The excellence of authentic Italian cuisine takes root in Gozo.
Overlooking the evocative heights of the island of Gozo, Malta, Osteria Scottadito has taken a new and significant step in its journey to promote authentic Italian taste: the restaurant has upgraded its ITA0039 by ASACERT certification, moving from the Gold rating to the prestigious Platinum level.
This recognition follows a new audit carried out in accordance with the ITA0039 Protocol, one year after the initial certification. The inspection, conducted by an ASACERT inspector – a certification, inspection, assessment and training body, and the creator of the ITA0039 | 100% Italian Taste Certification system – confirmed and rewarded the osteria’s ongoing commitment to authenticity, quality raw materials and consistency with Italian culinary tradition.
Behind the success of Osteria Scottadito are Emanuele Carloni and Michela Cappelli, a couple who chose to bring not only recipes but a true gastronomic culture to the heart of the Mediterranean. After leaving Pesaro, they found in the island of Gozo the ideal place to turn their passion into a mission: telling the story of Italy through authentic dishes, genuine hospitality and a strong connection to their regional roots in the Marche and Romagna areas.
From 2017 to today, the osteria’s journey has been marked by steady growth. This evolution gained further momentum in January 2024 with the move to the new location on the Nadur Heights – a spacious and welcoming venue enhanced by a breathtaking view of the Maltese archipelago. A setting that elevates the dining experience and reflects the maturity achieved by the Scottadito project.
In the kitchen, chef Michela Cappelli continues to stand out for her rigor, sensitivity and respect for raw ingredients. Iconic dishes such as Agnello Scottadito perfectly embody the restaurant’s philosophy: simplicity, solid technique and authentic flavors.
“Italian cuisine is recognized by passion, regional tradition and family management, not by the number of flags hanging on the walls,” says Emanuele Carloni. A vision fully reflected in the upgrade to the Platinum level, the highest distinction provided by the ITA0039 certification, reserved for establishments that demonstrate continuity, consistency and a concrete commitment to safeguarding true Made in Italy.
The ITA0039 by ASACERT certification was created precisely with this goal: to protect and promote Italy’s agri-food heritage in international markets through a qualified network of Italian restaurants around the world. A system that provides guarantees to consumers, enhances the work of restaurateurs and supports Italian producers, countering phenomena such as Italian sounding and counterfeiting.
Osteria Scottadito’s transition from Gold to Platinum is not merely a formal achievement, but the confirmation of a journey built on coherent choices, sacrifices and genuine passion. A recognition that strengthens the restaurant’s role as an ambassador of Italian excellence in Malta and demonstrates how authenticity, when real and measurable, is always rewarded.
